I attended the Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! show with Mike Nagel and Jeff Meacham
from Xtreme Mayhem. Here's my short recap because, well, there isn't
much to talk about...
- They basically talked a lot of nothing. They DIDN'T mention Hogan's
daughter. They DIDN'T mention Wrestlemania XX. Hogan plugged no current
or future projects, so it made no sense as to why he was on this show.
- Hogan was on for about five minutes talking about Wrestlemania III.
They showed clips of him slamming the "700 pound" Andre The Giant. Hogan
told stories of Andre drinking and farting. Hogan said that Kevin Nash
was a fan watching the show, and it was that match that got Nash into
wanting to become a wrestler. Well, that's a new story for sure.
- At one point, I yelled out "Russo!" just to see if Hogan would react,
and a security guy came over a minute later and I almost got kicked out.
- After the show, Jeff wanted to try and meet with Hogan, so we went
behind the building and got in line with other fans. Hogan, Kevin Nash,
DDP, and Kimberly came out. They waved to the crowd and got in the
limos. These fans wanted autographs, and they were PISSED that Hogan and
company pretty much brushed them off.
- I wanted to finish up by saying that this entire show absolutely
sucked. First off, we had to wait an extra hour to get in because they
were having technical issues. The main issue, though, was that Jimmy
Kimmel sucks big time. He's not funny, he's was reading off cue cards
the whole time, and everybody is forced to cheer and clap for every joke
like sheep. They also forced everyone to listen to this really LOUSY
band after the interviews. Between the show in general and Hogan's
appearance, I was very disappointed in the whole thing.

Mike talked about how WWE misuses most WCW and ECW talent they get their hands
on, himself being a prime example. He also agreed with the fan-sent examples - Raven
and Tommy Dreamer.
Mike Awesome discussed leaving ECW and going to WCW while still being ECW
Heavyweight champion. He said he would have rather dropped the title to someone
other than Tazz, someone like Rhyno, as he wasn't sure of Tazz's stance on the
situation, and said he (Tazz) could do some damage to him if he wanted to.
Mike agreed with a fan question that suggested especially in WWE big guys with
little talent get free passes, Nathan Jones and Matt Morgan being two examples
listed. He said some are athletic big guys, like Test, but others get in based on
looks alone.
Between the major 3 lockerrooms, Mike picked ECW as the best environment to work
in. Mike said WCW was more organized and professional, but lacked leadership, while
WWE he wasn't comfortable at all, always worrying any little slip up will be held
against him. He also mentioned while working in TNA, he enjoyed their lockerroom
very much as well.
Mike predicted working with Tanaka at least 200 or 300 times in his career. He
talked about working with Tanaka when he first got into the business, and talked
about coming up with the powerbomb from inside the ring through a table outside the
ring, and how Tanaka was the first victim, despite being agreeing to take the bump.
He said it was fun, Tanaka thought it was good, and it stuck on. Pretty funny story
in all, lots more specifics.
Mike had fun talking about "that 70s guy" gimmick that he portrayed in WCW. He
said originally it was going to be an 80s guy gimmick, but they decided on 70s.
Another funny story when hearing the details.
Also on the WrestleZone Radio exclusive interview, Mike Awesome
discusses his growing up with relatives in the business, what made him decide to
become a wrestler, lots of good stories about backstage atmosphere in the numerous
companies he's worked for, compare/contrast of working for the big 3, and tons more
